Day 21

After the day at the Yellowstone geysers & pools, where we saw lots of bison, elk, moose and their babies as well as a bufflehead duck, white pelicans and even a Western Bluebird, we went to Grand Teton National Park. Brrr. It snowed, hailed and rained while we were there, but we were lucky to get a couple of beautiful glimpses of the range in full sun. We took a self-guided hike after lunch, including a bit of snow & ice for me, on the way down. We also went to town; can't miss the Silver Dollar Bar and the elk arches! I remember that there used to be 1 arch, now there's 1 on every corner of the square in the middle of town. We were very impressed by the beautiful library and the new Wildlife Art Museum that just opened at the edge of town. This weekend kicks off the season in Jackson, with a lot of events and activities that will probably take place in snow or hail. The locals are all ready for spring! Last, before heading up to Eric, Suzanne & Talia in Bozeman, we poked naround for another day in the Northern part of Yellowstone where we saw several "Parades" of bison in the highway, fields, and forests. I assume they have the right of way! The thermal springs are dry (or way underground) at this time of year, the boiling river is closed (too much raging cold water), so we'll plan to jump in another hot spring tomorrow w/the kids... looking forward to it!
