Day 11

Tenemos algunos problemitas con el blog, aunque es una tarea secundaria a veces se torna la principal y nos llena de rabia y frustración cuando google y los dioses se interponen en nuestro camino. Estamos gozando nuevamente de un techo por un par de días en Moab, Utah, gracias a gentileza de amigos. Volvimos a entrar en zona árida, esas que parten los labios. Fuimos a un parque hermoso, Newspaper Rock, en Utah; fue otra grata sorpresa encontrar esos petroglifos de más de 1000 años de antigüedad de los pobladores de esta zona. La zona incluye otro parque, Canyonlands. Empezamos a ver esas formaciones de piedra caliza, verdaderas esculturas sobre terrenos de sal, con mucha erosión. Pasamos el resto del día en Arches, parque nacional en Moab, Utah. Va una imagen como anticipo. Descubrimos algunas bellas flores silvestres. Seguimos en Arches. Continuará...

Today was like a dream: we began the day at Newspaper rock, a place that SO many friends and family had told me about and you weren't wrong! We filmed it, photoed it, climbed up beside it and the more we looked, the more we noticed & read into it; it was hard to tear ourselves away, but a quick visit to Canyonlands was on the list, so we drove up the road, past The UT Nature Conservancy's Dugout Ranch, and feasted on the geological poetry of the famous rock formations of Canyonlands. Eyes bulging from so many natural sculptures, we headed back to spend the afternoon at Arches that started with a well-done film overview and then went up in the park for some hikes and walks. What beautiful formations and flowers. Even though the day was a bit overcast, the graceful sandstone and desert flowers more than made up for it.
